Types of sessions

Pre-conference invited workshop: Pre-conference workshops offer innovative and timely topics under the leadership of expert workshop facilitator(s). Participants have the opportunity to discuss and share their knowledge and experience on the offered subject, to learn new skills, to grow professionally and to network with other experts attending the workshops. Workshops are not included the conference registration and incur an additional fee.

  • Length: 3 (2* 1.5) or 6 (4*1.5) hours (half or full day)

Keynote lectures/plenaries: Keynote speakers are invited experts who share their cutting edge knowledge and research on a specific topic of interest. Keynote lectures are plenary sessions that are offered to every participant without exclusion.

Invited symposia: The topic and the chair of an invited symposium is proposed by the organizers and the chair defines the detailed program and invites the collaborators.

  • Length: 1.5 hours

Symposia: Participants can apply for an individual symposium, in which members of a research group can introduce their work via short lectures and a debate after them. Symposia have to be proposed by the participants via abstract submission and they undergo a review process. There are two ways of submitting abstracts for this: either the chair submits the overvirew and all included abstracts in one document or all participants involved in the symposium upload their own abstract belonging to the symposium but they need to indicate the name if the chair and the title of the symposium in the relevant registration field.

  • Number of authors: chair (this person should apply with the symposium abstracts) + authors of typically 4 presentations + discussant

Workshop (during the conference): Conference workshops are typically presentations of practical works, professional discussions and self-experience on an offered subject, method or application. Workshops are led by a facilitator or a group of facilitators. Workshops have to be proposed by the participants via abstract submission and they undergo a review process.

  • Length: 1.5 hours

Oral presentation: Oral presentations are accounts of scientific and professional achievements. Oral presentations have to be proposed by the participants via abstract submission and they undergo a review process. Accepted oral presentations are grouped into parallel sessions by the organizers.

  • Length: 15 minutes

Poster: Posters are presented throughout a day. During the 1-hour poster sessions the author(s) can present their posters parallelly with each other, via informal discussions. Posters have to be proposed by the participants via abstract submission and they undergo a review process.
